FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR
Edward Whitley OBE, Chartered FCSI
Edward is founder and Director of Whitley Asset Management. Prior to establishing WAM, Edward worked at NM Rothschild & Sons Limited.
Edward graduated in 1983 from Oxford University with an honours degree in English. He holds the CISI Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate. Edward is also the founder and Chairman of The Whitley Fund for Nature, a UK registered charity founded in 1993.
Edward has written four books, Rogue Trader (co-authored with Nick Leeson); Richard Branson’s Autobiography (co-authored with Richard Branson); The Graduates; and Gerald Durrell’s Army.
Edward was awarded the OBE in 2013.
FINANCE DIRECTOR
Louise Rettie, Chartered FCSI
Louise has been with Whitley Asset Management since its beginnings and is responsible for finance, compliance, and operations.
Following qualification as a Chartered Accountant at Coopers & Lybrand, Louise spent several years in the City, at Lloyds Merchant Bank and then Hill Samuel. Louise joined the Whitley Fund for Nature in 1999 and then worked with Edward to set up Whitley Asset Management in 2002.
Louise graduated from Cambridge University in 1985 with an honours degree in Law. She holds the CISI Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate.

Ian McCaig, Chartered FCSI
Ian joined Whitley Asset Management in 2006. Ian looks after a number of WAM clients and is involved in investment decisions and fund manager selection and monitoring. Ian chairs the Quarterly Strategic Asset Allocation Review meetings.
Prior to joining WAM, Ian was a Portfolio Analyst in the Private Wealth Management department at Morgan Stanley & Co Limited.
Ian graduated from Strathclyde University with a BA in English. He holds the CISI Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate.

Daniel Müller CFA, Chartered FCSI
Dan joined Whitley Asset Management in 2008 and looks after a number of WAM clients. Dan sits on the investment committee and is involved in investment decisions, fund manager selection, strategic asset allocation decisions and on-going monitoring.
Prior to working at WAM, Dan trained as an Investment Advisor at Bestinvest Brokers in London.
Dan read Biochemistry and received a BSc Hons from Kings College London. He holds the CISI Diploma in Wealth Management. Dan became a Chartered Financial Analyst in 2017.

Anna Powell, Chartered FCSI
Anna joined Whitley Asset Management in 2016. Anna has extensive experience in asset management having run European equity funds at GT Global and Robert Fleming & Co.
Anna maintained her interest in equity investing throughout a career break to bring up her children, and joined WAM to develop a second career in wealth and asset management. She manages the portfolios of a number of WAM clients and is engaged in all investment decisions. Anna chairs the Monthly Manager Review meetings.
Having graduated from the University of Durham with a joint honours degree in French and German, she qualified as a member of the Society of Investment Analysts in 1989. Anna holds the CISI Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate.
COMPLIANCE MANAGER
Kate Horton, Chartered FCSI
Kate joined Whitley Asset Management in 2005. Having spent many years managing WAM clients, Kate now has responsibility for implementing and monitoring the compliance processes at WAM.
Prior to working at WAM, Kate worked in the statistics department of the Association of Investment Trust Companies.
Kate graduated from the University of Leicester in 1999 and achieved her MA in 2000. She holds the CISI Investment Advice Diploma and the CISI Diploma in Investment Compliance.
MANAGER
Alastair Killham CFA, Chartered MCSI
Alastair joined WAM in 2016 as a Team Assistant. Promoted to Manager in 2019, Alastair now manages a number of WAM clients. He attends the Investment Committee, contributing to its discussions and is involved in investment decisions, fund manager selection and monitoring.
Prior to joining WAM, Alastair worked at Henderson Global Investors as a Broker Relations Analyst.
Alastair graduated from the University of the West of England with a BA in Economics. In 2019 he was awarded the CFA charter.
MANAGER
Hugh Pecover, ACSI
Hugh joined WAM in 2016. Hugh manages a number of WAM clients, is involved in all aspects of the investment process, and sits on the investment and ESG Committees.
In 2015, Hugh graduated from the University of Edinburgh’s School of Economics with a BA in Humanities and Social Sciences. Hugh holds the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate and Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst qualification.
Hugh volunteers with Give a Book, attending reading groups and family days in two of London’s prisons.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Ella Whitley
Ella joined Whitley Asset Management in January 2021 as Business Development Manager. Ella has responsibility for managing operations, as well as working with current and prospective clients.
Prior to joining WAM, Ella worked in the client solutions team for a global custodian and investment administrator. Ella holds the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate and graduated from the University of Exeter in 2015 with a BA in Geography.
As well as being a keen sailor, Ella has developed a deep interest in sustainability and the environment which led her to undertake a business sustainability management course with the University of Cambridge in 2020.
JUNIOR MANAGER
Jacob Cheli, ACSI
Jacob joined WAM as an Intern in 2019 after graduating from the University of Oxford with a BA in Theology and Oriental Studies. In 2020, he became a full time Investment Assistant, and in 2022 was promoted to Senior Investment Assistant, supporting the managers with WAM clients and research. He sits on the ESG Committee and is involved with developing and implementing WAM’s Responsible Investment approach as well as specific Impact Investment client mandates.
Jacob holds the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate and has passed the CFA Level I exam.
Jacob is a keen scuba diver and kite surfer and has volunteered with Local Ocean Conservation in his hometown in Kenya.

Nick Skovron
Nick completed a Summer Internship with WAM during his second year at Durham University studying Geography. Following his graduation from Durham in 2020, he became a full time Investment Assistant, supporting the managers with WAM clients and conducting investment research.
Nick holds the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate and has passed the CFA Level I exam.
INVESTMENT ASSISTANT
Clara Geldard
Clara joined WAM as an Investment Assistant in 2022 after graduating from the University of Edinburgh with a BA in Politics. She supports the team by working with managers on several clients and conducting investment research for the investment committee. She sits on the ESG Committee and assists in the development of WAM’s Responsible Investment policy and PRI Reporting responsibilities.
Clara holds the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate and is studying for the CFA Level I exam.
Clara is the UK Ambassador for iAfrika, a children’s charity based in Nairobi, Kenya.
INVESTMENT ASSISTANT
Emily Sporborg
Emily joined WAM as an Investment Assistant in 2024. Emily conducts investment research and supports the managers with their clients. Prior to joining, Emily worked in management consulting as an analyst for Credera. She graduated from the University of Bristol’s School of Economics, Finance and Management with a BSc in International Business Management.
Emily is studying for the CFA Society’s Investment Management Certificate.
Emily supports the founder of ‘Girls in Motion’ – a small charity that fundraises for sports facilities and nutritional education to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of schoolgirls in India.
OFFICE MANAGER
Sophia Carr
Sophia joined WAM in 2019 as the Office Manager. As well as managing the day to day running of the office, Sophia provides administrative support to the team.
Prior to joining WAM, Sophia worked for The Berkeley Group (St George Developments) as an Assistant Customer Service Manager.
Sophia also volunteers with Give a Book, attending reading groups and family days in two of London’s prisons.
NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Alex Hambro
Alex joined Whitley Asset Management in 2003 as a Non-Executive Director.
Alex has been in the investment industry for 30 years during which time he has acted as a principal investor; manager and sponsor of private equity and venture capital management teams.
Alex managed the venture capital and private equity fund investment portfolio for Hambros plc, prior to its sale to Société Générale in 1998.
As well as his Whitley Asset Management responsibilities, Alex is also founder Chairman of Judges Scientific plc, a scientific instrumentation group; Falanx Group, a cyber security services company and OTAQ plc, a marine and aquaculture technology company. Alex is also a non-executive director of Octopus Apollo VCT plc; Time Partners Ltd and Oberon Investments Group plc.

Fabia Bromovsky
Fabia’s experience is in family offices, private equity, philanthropy, rural estates and heritage management.
After graduating from Oxford in Mathematics she joined Lord Rothschild’s office, where for over 30 years she has held a variety of senior positions. Most recently Fabia was CEO of the Rothschild Foundation, a family charitable trust with assets of over £700m and annual giving of £10m; responsible as CEO for Waddesdon Manor, a Rothschild house attracting 500,000 visitors annually with its associated trading businesses; director of the family office and board member of the Waddesdon Estate.
The current focus of her work is food and farming sustainability and climate impact. Fabia is an advisor to Sustainable Food Trust and the Global Farm Metric coalition, board member for several family offices, Trustee of the Illuminated River Foundation and Director of Waddesdon Wines Limited.
